Perceptive of the need of Paraná society for the prospect of using solar energy as an important source of energy, the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), institution with more than 100 years and reference in teaching and research, in partnership with Itaipu Binational, the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI) and the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), an international benchmark in the vanguard of modeling science, collecting and interpreting various spatial data, proposed to perform a challenging work: mapping, analyzing and to present the distribution of solar radiation and the potential of electric power generation through photovoltaic systems in the State of Paraná.
With this innovative spirit, these institutions deliver to society the Solar Energy Atlas of the State of Paraná, which aims to be a tool for consulting and analyzing the potential of solar radiation and the generation of photovoltaic electric energy in the state, in order to promote and disseminate the use of this source for sustainable development.
The products generated in this Atlas range from an analysis of the potential of solar energy and generation of electric energy to the presentation of maps of the various components of solar irradiation and the interpretation of the values obtained.

The database of the Solar Energy Atlas of the State of Paraná may not be reproduced or copied, in whole or in part, for commercial purposes without the express authorization of INPE / UTFPR.
Spatial resolution of 0.1 ° x 0.1 ° (approximately 10 x 10 km).
The guidelines on how to read the database of the Solar Energy Atlas of the State of Paraná are the same as those of the Brazilian Atlas of Solar Energy and can be seen here.
Complementing the Atlas and attending to a society connected to the innumerable technological resources, the Interactive Web Tool of the Solar Energy Atlas of the State of Paraná was developed, which allows any citizen to visualize the solar and photovoltaic potential in any location in the state. This tool allows the visualization of the spatial distribution of the global horizontal, direct normal, diffuse and tilted plane in the latitude solar irradiation by means of maps, in form of value and in the graphical form. The Interactive Web Tool of the Solar Energy Atlas of the State of Paraná was developed by the team of the International Center for Hydroinformatics of the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI / CIH), with technical support from the Solar Energy Laboratory (UTFPR / LABENS) and the Laboratory of Modeling and Studies on Renewable Energy Resources (INPE / DIIAV / LABREN ) and financial support from Itaipu Binacional.
All information provided by this Atlas used in academic, scientific or professional work must necessarily refer to the source as "Solar Energy Atlas of the State of Paraná - 1st Edition - 2017".
